Description of Western Bluebird

The western bluebird is florescent blue in the spring time. In this painting I tried to capture that blue.

I used glazing techniques of warm and cool blues as well as blue-purple for the blue of the feathers.

The rust color of the breast contrasts with the blue and is picked up in the foreground water.

Water and wildlife are often on my mind.
