Description of The Tree, The Shadow, and Me
I’ve been working with ideas about beauty and participation in experiences of nature. I live with trees all around me and take walks in the forest nearly everyday. I learn something new or see something new about trees every time I look at them. In this work I wanted to capture the subtleties of light that shadows create, especially in the branches and leaves. I used a palette of flesh colors to bring myself into the painting as observer and participant and part of the painting’s reflection.
This piece is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges painted to match the front of the painting. The work is varnished and ready to hang. All materials are high quality and archival.
