Green Stripe, Financial District

I used cold wax and oil paint to create a thick impasto for this series (5 in all). Using mostly a palette knife I painted these large canvases with sweeping bold color.

This one is a view from Sacramento Street looking west.

I was interested in the positive shapes of the buildings against the negative space of the sky and creating a sense of heavy, dense form.

It was a challenge to find the best balance of color and value as any one change in color to one shape would affect all the others.

I was exploring balance and harmony within color, shape and form.
