The Thistle Seed Proposal

This encaustic (wax and pigment) work was inspired by the lesser goldfinch. They are one of the most common birds but one of my favorites! Because they can be seen so often, they are the bird that I most photograph, draw, and paint.
Perhaps they are common to their mate as well and is why the mate has to come up with treats or little gifts to win over their sweetheart.
It is custom framed with a solid redwood frame and the artwork is “floating” in that none of the edges are covered.
