Reverie

This was the first painting of my tree shadow series. The shadow of a young pine on the ground in the morning. I worked on it for months to achieve the movement of color and light.

I began with a yellow ground color throughout because I wanted the warm light to come through all the other colors: blue, green, violet, soft pinks and white.

I first came upon this theme when walking my dog Bingo in the early morning and was mesmerized by the shadows that shifted and shimmered in subtly moving values on the road.

I had to give Bingo partial credit for my discovery.
